1936-39 ford wheels. won't fit the 205mm vw pattern

Downright AMAZING the similarity between these Ford Wheels and the VW wheels developed in the same mid to late '30s time frame.

Makes you wonder if there was a connection. Since Ford had the wheels starting in '36 and VW wasn't founded until '37, I'd have to say they copied, but you never know. VW was offered to Ford in '48 for free. Just take it and run it and keep our workers busy-type of thing. Ford didn't think it was worth their $0 asking price. LOL. It was his nephew or son who made the call, I think. Not so smart...

I agree that it wan't so smart. I would have taken it over! Of course. I wasn't yet, let alone able to take over a car company.

Ford manufactured cars in Germany when the VW was designed. But then Ford Germany was taken over ("Nationalized") by the Nazis when VW wheels were already being put on Kubelwagens.
