There's a hole at the bottom front of the transmission. It leaks oil. I think I'm missing some type of plug. See the picture. It measures about 8mm in diameter. Does anyone know its purpose? It isn't threaded so I must need some type of plug to press in.

Only descriptive in Bentley manual is 'lock bolt' or 'plug (3) ' as far as vertical stuff on the underside of bearing carrier. Assuming it's a plug of some sort.

I see nothing there on my 5 rib.

Drill and tap the hole and hopefully never have problems with it, though first you might call German Transaxle and see what they say.

It's an interlock plug, VW #111-301-115. Different from the 3 plugs on the right side of the housing. Weddle Industries has them in both steel and aluminum: https://weddleindustries.com/products/111-301-115-BR/111-301-115-BR

Hope nothing fell outta that hole!

Clean the area well with brake cleaner and use loctite on the plug to lock it in place well.
