Hi everyone, I got to my 73 bus and tried the methods I was told. This is a replacement turn signal for the 72-74 busses.
I purchased a new TS relay. No results.

- The zip tie method on the hazard switch didn’t work. The hazard still works, but the signals still do not function.
- Horn still does not function. The horn itself does work, but I still can’t get it to work from the steering wheel.
- I did find this random loose wire near my column, not sure what it’s exaclty for. As well, is the wiring order correct from the TS to that terminal?
-Is the gap between the wheel and the turn signal switch too large?

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thank you for all the replies. I love this thing but the wiring situation is really been a pain.

Welcome!

The grey wire is for the key buzzer.
The 3 terminal connector block is signal wires, is there a question about it?
There's multiple reasons for the horn not to work, get the signal licked and move on to that next.
The gap between the switch and wheel looks big, the signals won't self cancel, but the 73 style horn circuit doesn't depend on a small gap there like later models do.

Where would the grey wire go? I didn’t en know these had a buzzer. I jus purchased a buzzer relay now haha
My question on the terminal block was wondering if they were the correct order. The wires on the replacement switch are somewhat different colors than the original switch I removed.

Ahhhh..., I thought it was some weird camera trick. There's not many ways to connect it and you can't damage it by getting it wrong, 49a is the input (black/white/green) from the flasher relay, find that one on the bus end of those terminals and pick a wire on the new switch, I'd go with the green/white since it's the odd one out from the stock colors. The other two wires are out to the fixtures, one left (black/white), one right (black/green), since those match up on the new switch try it that way and see if anything works.

Since I see your hazard switch dangling test for power on the #15 terminal (green wire) when the key is on, no power there means no signals. Check fuse #11 if it's dead, that means remove it and clean both ends as well as the terminals that hold it, just looking at it doesn't count.

Key buzzer circuit shown on the 1973 USA diagrams found here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt2.php , it's current track #14. You might regret getting that working, it's rather annoying, makes a good radio power source though.
