While I was under the bus cleaning the ground strap from the transmission to the frame, I thought I'd look at the heating system as I'm not getting any airflow up front.

The center tube in my '79 is duct-taped into position at the rear most end, which might not help there, the accordion tubes look OK, and the flaps in the heater control boxes (I assume that's what they are called) move freely.

One thing I did notice is, with the levers up at the dash, both cables seem a little slack just in front of where they attach to the control boxes - should they be taut through the entire range of motion of the dash levers?

The flapper boxes have springs inside that allow for excess motion of the cables, either on the loose side or tight side. I set the cable tension on mine so that I know the flapper is fully in the hot position when the leaver is all the way down + a little bit more.

Can I add another question onto this thread?

My van is missing the accordion tubes and the cables. I saw somewhere that Bowden tubes are part of the cable routing near the flappers. Is this correct? If so, do new cables come with the Bowdens?
