Please note: If you are planning on attending this event please reply with your name and type of VW below. I'd just like to get a rough count of the number of cars.

It’s time for The Trail of The Wagens!

If you love to drive your VW, this is the event for you!

We begin our journey at the town square of San Antonio, Fl. For reference, use the City Hall address of 32819 Pennsylvania Ave, San Antonio, FL 33576

Background:
The Trail of the Wagens driving experience is a tribute to the beautiful and ever so fun “Tail Of The Dragon” twisting mountain drive in North Carolina. Of course, we have no mountains in Florida, but Pasco county is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse landscape in all of Florida. On this 50+ mile drive you will experience the beauty of rolling hills, lush forests, sprawling farm land, beautiful lakes and valleys, and even orange groves. You will also feel the adrenaline rush of many exhilarating twists and turns. The Trail offers an energizing scenic ride that few in Florida ever get to experience.

About the route:
I traversed miles of roads and spent many hours mapping a route that everyone could enjoy. The driving experience had to meet specific criteria. 1. The roads had to offer incredible views with twists, turns, hills and valleys, and offer scenery that Floridians rarely see. 2. The roads had to be paved and smooth, so any VW could ride the “Trail.” 3. The route had to be fun and memorable! This route delivers on all three!
It doesn’t matter if you drive a 1950 Bus or a 2018 Beetle. It doesn’t matter if you bring a lifted Baja or a slammed low rider. Everyone will enjoy the Trail Of The Wagens!

Preparation.
MAKE SURE YOUR FUEL TANK IS FULL!
Sorry, was I yelling? There is one gas station near our starting point but the next one after that is about at the midpoint (and we do not plan on stopping). The drive is over 50 miles long.
Check your VW prior to this trip. These roads are through rural country with few areas to pull over or make pit stops.
Use the Bathroom before we depart! The town square has two bathrooms located on the West end of the park

What should I bring?
Yourself, obviously!
But also bring a co-pilot and your cameras too! Take a ton of photos! Roll the Go-Pro video! Bring your video drone!! We want to combine the awesome footage and share it with everyone!
Bring CB radios or walkie-talkies. Yes, we are kicking it old school. Don’t forget the batteries! The plan is to keep in touch throughout our journey on the trail.
Bring tools and any spare parts you think you might possibly need.
Bring some folding chairs to sit in and relax.
Bring a cooler with drinks, snacks, or a nice picnic lunch.
How about bringing my GPS?
Your GPS will be mostly worthless on the drive. This driving experience is designed to bring maximum enjoyment by offering the most exciting roads and the best scenery. Because of this, we will do back-tracking a few times during the trip. If you try to use a GPS to map the final destination it will take you the most direct (and likely the least fun) route. But have no fear, we’re including turn by turn directions and a map! Equip your navigator or study the route ahead of time and guarantee a great driving experience!

We will gather at the town square of San Antonio, Fl. For reference, use the City Hall address of 32819 Pennsylvania Ave, San Antonio, FL 33576
There, we will have a picnic lunch and meet with our fellow VW owners. And of course, we will check out the beautiful VWs and take group photos.
NOTE: This is your last chance to use the bathroom before we begin the drive.

*****If you care to arrive earlier and are not bringing a picnic lunch, I suggest dining at a couple of local favorite restaurants. Pancho’s Villa Mexican Restaurant located at 32804 Pennsylvania Ave, San Antonio, FL 33576. Or, if you prefer some southern cooking, head down the road for a minute and you will arrive at On Q Smokehouse Grill which is located at 33030 FL-52, San Antonio, FL 33576. Both eateries offer amazing food! Just make sure you are back before the 1PM driver's meeting!*****
