ahhhhh the joys. slogging through brakes currently. replaced rear axle seals and pads, cylinders etc. What fun!
I was bored of the mechanical so I decided to tackle the heavily warped door cards.
Started with 1/8" sheet of melamine stuff from home despot. traced to size, hit it with the Multimaster and drilled the appropriate holes. I wanted to keep the Original vinyl as I am maintaining and rejuvenating as many original parts as possible.
The before.

Once I have the bottom stitched back on I am going to put underlayment on the whole board to fill it out a little bit. very pleased with the results so far! |

Hi!
Nice car
If your VIN starts with 1141, its a car made in March, and they where Nilbeige, not Prairiebeige Nilbeige was only for 8 months, so quite rare.
My Nilbeige to the left, a 57 Prairiebeige to the right.

that's intriguing. I have my birth certificate on the way so will be able to confirm hopefully! I will wait till I have that before I order my paint etc to ensure it is the OG color!
been slogging through breaks and rear axle seals...not my favorite jobs
The taste of progress is sweet tho.

That is good to know!
I have been slowly slogging away on some miscellaneous small jobs, rebuilding hand brake, brakelines, changing wheel bearings, etc etc. lots of fun stuff. the great news is I finally have a rolling pan. (and yes, the passenger front wheel was not bolted on which is why it is on a tilt)
I am still looking for a few parts, namely a popes nose! if anyone in Canada has one they r looking to part with im interested. or if anyone knows who makes a repro version.
Before
After!
restoring my hand brake.

i have been off the radar for a bit, progress slowed due to a slight change in job roles etc!
back up and running and making slick progress.
the old hole.
brazed it with the old mans brazing set. #throwback to the sixtiees.
filler and putty to smooth it out.
many hours of block sanding later its in high build.
