And what make/model/year are they?
I've currently got 4 but am looking to cut down the herd a bit, but they are as follows:
1970 1200 bug dressed up as a street racer with 1600cc engine and 3-spoke alloys!
1972 1300 bug with rotted floorpan bought for £30 last year and it's a runner but will be a parts car.
1971 1300 bug that had a B289 (back to 89) makeover on it. This will be the first to go as I haven't the time/energy to put into it.
1967 1500 bug - my latest purchase but has a siezed engine, and this one is a keeper unless a mint version of it comes along for pennies. I've a thread on this in the 58-67 bugs forum.
None of them on the road!
So what have you got and what plans have you got for them? |

A dozen over the years, and as many as 5 at a time once (1 Bus, 2 Bugs, 2 Type 3s), but down to one now, a '71 fastback by dad bought new. No plans to sell. Ever.

Down to 2 Bugs at the moment. Had as many as 4 at once (including a 71 Super Vert and 64 K-Ghia I sold).
Current: 63 Sunroof Bug, restored to original look (L87 Pearl White, Brick Red leatherette, German wool square weave carpet in light gray, gray rubber floor mat. 1600 Single Port, 12 Volt, High geared transaxle. My dad was 2nd owner, bought in 1966. My parents brought me home in it when I was born in 68. I've got all documentation, dealer items, tools, etc. Restoration over 16 years old. Wanted this car my whole life. Sentimental. Will never sell. Brought it back from way too far gone.
62 Sunroof Bug. Bought off eBay 11 years ago. Been hand painting and DIY interior the last 9 years. 1600 Single port, 12 Volt, original transaxle geared low. It was originally an L87 Pearl White Sunroof car also, but painted maroon when I got it. Detailed undercarriage. Too much of myself in it to ever sell now.
Plan is to keep adding graphics wherever I can find.

I've had many, but usually one at a time. The only exceptions were when I overlapped and had one keeper and one for sale at the same time. I'd love to have more but----- no room. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

In order of how long I've had them:
1978 Westfalia Bus. It was given to me non-running in 2002. I got it running and drove for a long time and started a TDI conversion in 2013. It runs with that though the conversion project is ongoing in tidying things up as time goes on.
2002 Golf TDI. Bought in January 2012. Currently has 318,000 miles on it. Was rear ended in October 2012. A foster son damaged the front two fenders in two separate incidents. The front suspension is getting worn out. Far as I know it is on the original clutch, original bottom end (head was rebuilt a couple years ago) and most other original parts besides some maintenance items. I was checking the air pressure in the tires and am going to have to decide soon if I want to throw that money at the car. It is a wonderful teenager "learn to drive" car (it has taught approximately 6 foster sons how to drive stick-shift just fine) but at some point I'm going to have to think long and hard about the money I put into a car that is wearing out and as beat up as it is.
1973 Wild Westerner Bus. Bought in 2014. Happened across these things by browsing the Bay forums. After seeing a pic and reading the speculations on the weird history of such a Bus, I decided I needed one. Bought non-running. I've since got it going with a Vanagon motor, installed fuel injection, and recently a BA6 heater.
1973 Thing. Bought in 2015. Had missed owning a convertible (have had several in the past) and always thought they were cool so I was on the hunt. This one had sat in a barn for 25 years. I got it up and running and drove it for a year and a half before pulling the engine! No top though, so it gets covered in the coldest months. (I usually hold out hope for one last warm day before this happens, so it inevitably gets snowed on at least once before I concede and tarp it, as in this pic.)

Just the same two I had back in '76 (that's 1976 for you younger guys, not 1876 !!!). A 1970 standard bought in 1972 (the newest vehicle I've EVER had) and the 1971 Super Convertible I bought in 1976.
_________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Second owner of each. 1988 Mazda B2200 truck, 1998 Frontier, 2014 Yukon, 2004 Frontier King Cab. All manual transmission except for the Yukon. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335294 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335297 |

Seriously. Same thought.
And so I’m on topic the two in my signature. Hoping to add a third. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

I have got quite a few air cooled. Let see, got my lawn mower, the edger, weed wacker, blower, couple rc cars, a motorcycle... ohh wait you were talking about VWs? Well technically air cools the water, so my current one is in a way air cooled right?
All joking aside, I have only owned one air cooled VW and it never gave me any problems. It was a bone stock, all original, super clean 74 super with 40k miles on it. I do miss it. _________________ 1970 Bug Shell - the rest of it, well see for yourself...
