Welp, since it's now okay to do this now, I figured I would use the opportunity to introduce you to a few new products that we have on the shelves.

First up are the Syncro speedo drive gears. These are made of aluminum bronze to be both durable and friendly to the worm gear that drives it. Unlike the stock plastic and cheap 3D printed parts, these gears will probably outlast the vehicle.

Next up are a set of Projektzwo style fog lamps. These come in clear and yellow. The lamps are a true fog lamp and while they are probably not as refined as the original Hella lamps, they do produce a nice pattern with plenty of light. They use a standard H3 55 watt bulb.

And lastly, for today, we have a set of rear tail lamp "blenders". These are replicas of the original VW parts that were offered on the later model, higher-end vans. These blenders are made from OE-textured ABS and are really easy to install. The make really clean up the rear of the van between the tail lamps.

Any replacement bulbs available for the lights?
edit: I should have asked, are replacement lenses available?
I have the original Projektzwo lights and would like a spare set of lenses.
Even better would be LED! The halogen bulbs get pretty hot.

Whew...I thought you had sold the business too!

Great to see those yellow fogs...right after I did mine using old vintage CIBIE "Airport" fogs from the '80s. They fit like they were made for the Projektzwo!

Yours are using the H3 bulb where these are using an H2 bulb. Yours will much easier to get spares for I think.

I think the best new product you have are the Triple Nozzle Washers for the windshield.
I have them on mine and they are a great improvement,
Your price is great too for them!

Speedo gears! Excellent!! Do you recall which color/number is for the 4.86 R&P? Does the R&P gearing even matter??

I purchased a front locker imported from Sweden years back and had the original R&P (5.43 to the best of my memory) replaced with a 4.86 R&P by GTA. I'm currently using the light brown speedo gear it came with (094409181J 8/18 Beige/Brown (color of wood) to the best of my recollection) and it causes my speedometer to show 20% slower than I'm actually going. So, my question is what # teeth is the brown and what color do I need now to show the real speed with my 4.86R&P?

Pulling from another thread by derekdrew......

The map to the available gears as far as I am aware is this:

094409181B 8/19 WHITE (standard for all North America, all of which were 4.86)
094409181C 8/20 BLACK
094409181D 8/21 RED (standard for all South Africa, all of which were 5.43) ALSO MAY BE GREY???
094409181E 9/20
094409181F 9/21 GREY (medium to light grey)
094409181G 9/22
094409181H 7/19 Dark BROWN
094409181J 8/18 Beige/Brown (color of wood)

Outstanding option for a Real Fog light, that uses widely available lamps

I especially like the clear lens option that can optionally be paired with a yellow lamp, or a clear lamp

for people that want a yellow beam, without having to add a yellow lens to the color combinations on the van..

Fwiw, I have clear lens fogs on my Subaru, I swapped from clear bulbs to selective yellow lamps. The brightness dropped by 20%, but I like the yellow option, without having to use a yellow lens. One of each pictured below, note also that when off the lens does not look yellow (which I did not want on a white car)

Yes.

I realize you have a 4.86 now, but… our speedometer and odometer read about 10% high when all was stock, which is pretty standard for gauges to read.

When we went from 14" to 16" wheels, our tire diameter grew by about 6%, so now we were covering more ground despite the gauge speed. But we also went from a 4.86 to a 5.43 Ring and Pinion, so…

Now when I pass a speed checker on the road, our speedometer matches the quoted speed almost dead-on — though it now errs on the side of reading a bit low if anything.

Chris: I see you list speedo gears as for Syncro, do they work on a 2WD?

The basic design is finalized, but still needs a few refinements. I'm picking away at it slowly.

I'm working on having some replacement lenses in stock, but none as of today.

Since they use a standard H3 bulb arrangement, it may be possible to change to and LED bulb. The only issue that I can see is that the entire system is really shallow and many LED bulbs protrude out the backside by more than the standard LED bulb does. But as long as there is enough clearance, then no problem.

No sir! Thanks for the concern, but in fact, we are doing better than we ever have and still growing.

Yeah, those are a great upgrade too. The only complaint I have heard about their performance is that they put out so much volume of fluid that the reservoir empties sooner. But, that seems like a small price to pay to have a clear windscreen.

Thanks for pointing that out, Jon. That does look like a great option.

094409181H 7/19 Dark BROWN
094409181J 8/18 Beige/Brown (color of wood)

Thank you for listing all of those options.

What matters is that the speedo drive gear matches the worm gear on the pinion. That worm gear is pressed on to the pinion so it's possible to switch those around, but you have to be sure that the worm gear and the speedo drive gear match. In other words, if you change to taller tires and now your speedometer is off, it's not as simple as changing just the speedo drive gear. You would have to change the speedo drive gear and the worm gear at the same time.

If the worm gear and speedo drive gear are mismatched, the speedo drive gear will get torn up eventually. If you pull out a white (8/19) speedo drive gear, you need to put the equivalent of a white (8/19) gear back in it. Unless, that is, you also change the worm gear to match.

Now, I am not a gearbox/differential expert so I am simply relaying things as I understand them. If someone has correct information that is contrary to what I stated above, please let me know so I can make the necessary corrections.

LOVE them, but I hate it when something comes out that's better than what I already have! LOL

Any new development on front brakes? It's still on my to do list, I still have OEM ones (in good shape)...

Christopher, a rear sway bar would be so awesome...can’t wait.

I’m tempted on the tail light blenders! Ah screw it, I might as well order a set just because. Very Happy

p.s. I like these vendor updates threads. They keep me up-to-date on the latest news from Vanagon vendors and support engagement with them as well.
