Hello,
I've pulled the engine from my 73 bus to do some upkeep and maintenance. I would be grateful for comments about the health of my flywheel, clutch plate, and pressure plate as seen in the photos.
I had the engine out about six years ago had had the flywheel resurfaced by a local machine shop. I was concerned with the cracks I saw but after doing the work, the machinist told me the flywheel was healthy and good to use. So, for the past six years, I've used it and - have not had any issues. But - should I replace it? I've driven it about 6,000 miles since it was resurfaced.
Here's what it looked like before resurfacing in 2017:
And here's what it looked like after it came back from the shop:
And here's what it looks like now:
Thank You for your input,

210mm? That flywheel isn't available anymore. The replacements are cast un its. so don't toss it. little 220 grit & brake cleaner. Disc? check there's enough material to make it worth reinstalling. If you plan on abusing it or never changing it again, put a new disc in + take-out bearing, roller input shaft bearing, Bowden Tube & cable. Proper sag below the rear torsion tube & forge(t it.(with the exception of clutch pedal height checks). : ) |
