Hi guys
Installed a new throttle cable on my 72 bus and low and behold the darn thing is 6" too short Sad
I need to get the bus out of the garage and spun around, any good tips to temporarily extend a cable?
Will just be a temporary fix until a new cable arrives.
Regards

If you have some extra barrel bolts and some picture hanging cable, you are in business. Sometimes called "Yankee Ingenuity". Good thing to carry in that gadget box, you stashed under the driver's seat, remember?

An electrical connector called a split bolt and a short piece of control cable will work as well. Wire coat hanger maybe?

I’d steal a barrel clamp off my heater cable. Then Cut the old cable off At about 3 feet from the carb end. Go under the bus and splice the new and the old cables together near the transmission.

I think that is the correct cable length for the 72 bus.saw the information from the early parts manual, but can anyone else confirm this?

good call on the robbery from heater cable! I have 2 new linkeages to install for my heaterbox's so they can be used till a nice cable of correct size comes!
Think I better remove this cable first and measure to ensure I don't get another incorrect length one
Thanks for tips everyone, unbelievably my local motor factors here in UK doesn't sell the barrel nuts! Suprising as its a leading bicycle sales place too!
A nice job for Monday whilst the kids are at school I think!

Tie a string to the end before you remove. That will show you the correct routing for the new cable and/or you can use the string to pull the new cable through. BTDT

If you’re using a string, it might be nice to tie a little strip of a microfiber rag or towel to the end of the string to help clean the tube. Because sooooo many POs love to clean their tubes out...
