Dual port relief valve springs..

It says how many pounds at what installed height and all in the Bentley,
But,
Is there a free/open measurement anywhere,
Just to make sure it's ball-park?

Have too many springs here in a box, and can't remember which is which.. Confused

The set I have measure,
1.485" for the forward (flywheel end) spring
and,
3.607 for the rearward spring.

The above are from a new set of OEM springs.

God Luck.

Esde,
Yeah, I searched,
And got the same conundrum:
A few springs that I don't know what they came from,
And the 'Compressed load' table from the Bentley.. Confused

Those pics coulda been taken from my bench right now! Laughing

Rustavenger - Thanks!
Those new springs came from ac.net, or..?

Did they come in a 'blister pack' from one of the big names?

Because they are quite a good bit longer than both of the ones i 'guessed was it' in my pic,
I'm wondering if they aren't from a 'booster' set?
Used to be, that the only springs you would see for sale were the booster kind.
And stock springs were already available from all of the stock cases, so why sell any, if y'know what i mean...

Sure are a LOT of different lengths here in this drawer o'mine.
Single and dual-relief, both type 1 and type 4, booster style.. and some probably from a garden hose or something.. Laughing

Guess it gives a guy a chance to fine tune...

Also notice that the biggest one in Esde's pic is just over 3"?

Seems to be the same with most other pics n the gallery.. Confused

I got the springs in a universal hardware kit from a local well respected supply house.

I specifically asked for an OEM set. Not the booster kit that blew out two oil coolers and my 1776 I built 20 years ago. Shocked

They get their parts from among other places, Pacific Parts International.
Sadly I have discarded the package that they came in.

The P/N is 113 198 033.

If I have mislead you. I apologize.

EDIT: The parts were not in a blister pack.

Not at all, brother, much much appreciated!

There are a TON of pics and discussion in the gallery,
But,
Not a one was "Here's the free length measurement on a new spring" like you just gave me.

Thanks, and thanks again!

I'm just snooping out the details here, and that's exactly what kind of things need known..

Wouldn't the 311 in the P/N you posted be for a type 3? Since type 1's were never, to my knowledge delivered with twin carbs.

Yes, sir. Hence it's "1500S" moniker..

Here's a good one..

Clatter, I have a pile of stock springs that I've removed from core engines, but they're at my shop. I remember checking them a while ago, and observing that there is variation in the length of both the short and long springs. It could be that some have lost tension, or be how they were made. I'm just guessing, maybe someone actually knows? My recollection is there was maybe 3-4mm difference in length, in a pile of 10-12 springs. I think the point I'm trying to make is, the length might not be exact and that probably is ok. Finding one with the correct rate is what's important.
