Hi everyone!
Thought about maybe i would introduce my project ...
66 squareback, lot's of mess to clean, also from previous welding. Not saying i am a good welder, just trying to do the best i can
So here it goes... How i bought it
oh yeah, thanks to imgur for hosting
What i meant earlier
After this i got it sand blasted and welded a support.
And so the journey begins ...
At this point, i was like f*ck this
This car was sold to me as "all that is left to be done is the main brake cylinder"
And as you all know, not much body panels available for type 3 so most of it is self fabricating...
Luckily i came across a wheel arch from a notch, but this needed also modification to fit a square, but in the end this is the result so far

Courageous work! Looks like you have a good handle on it. I envy those who can fab and weld. It's about the only way to make money on these cars, and it keeps many more on the road! |

You are a brave soul, I believe you are in Belgium, hence the BE location. We are spoiled here in Southern California, many of us would have passed on that car. Lucky it found you to bring it back to life. I restored a '65 sunroof Variant back in 2012. it took me about two years between disassembly and reassembly, and all I did was replace everything with NOS or good used parts, no welding at all. Let me know If I can be of any help.

I was going to say that I thought I was the crazy one around here for doing a bunch of welding on a rusty type 3, but you sir I admire.
Nice work, even if you consider yourself a newbie at welding and fabrication. Very nice job. Definitely going to watch this one as it moves along. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I’ve got to echo the sentiments of the others here. I like what you’ve done to that rear quarter and you handled it with some good planning and detail. You’ll get the hang of the welding and fabricating of pieces as you move long your rebuild. Bold and ballsy move and it paid off. Good on you man! I look forward to seeing more of your developing skills and seeing your ride gain new life _________________ MonT3

@ALLWAGONS, thanks i will keep that in mind
Today i continued the corner, got this piece plied at the local hardware store, luckily i have a nos driver side so i can take templates for measurements, if anyone is interested i can scan them...
Before finally welding this corner, need to fill up the screws on last picture with another corner... now that i still got the space...

Dude, I have the same damage on the very same spot, only on the driver-side. I'm most likely going to need to do the same repair as you, so I'd really appreciate those templates.
Excellent job by the way, truly a good way to get myself pumped to do the repair work. |

Yeah, I don't believe you...
I know it has been said before, but this is truly impressive fab work! You obviously have a lot of talent when it comes to metal shaping.
Very nice work, I for one am excited to see this thing come together. |

Thank you very much for the very positive feedback everyone
Give me some time to figure out how to put online the templates as good as possible, and also to look for them because i've got them laying around everywhere after using I will try to do it after the weekend
Hope to see it come together also especially looking forward to remove the cross in the back, that would mean something like ending a chapter in this project |
