A friend of mine had a '63 Beetle when he was a teenager in the '70s. He and a buddy were flying down a stone road headed for their favorite fishing spot on the river. The beetle's right side pan was rusted out and would flop up and down, and his buddy had to keep his feet up on the front fire wall. As I said they were flying down the stone road when Mike saw a dead skunk in the road. As luck would have it, the pan flopped down just as they crossed over the skunk and it speared it good. The skunk was stuck on the pan and by the time he got the beetle stopped, it was filled with plenty of 'ripe air'. Mike said they keep their heads out the windows on the way home and it took weeks for the beetle to air out. _________________ 1960 Indiana Red T1 |
