Popped this code today and inspected purge valve hoses and canister, NPF.
Turns out the purge valve , part 1C0906517A, is the same one used on my New Beetle convertible , so I'll swap Them and confirm diagnosis.
New Beetle is off road with front clip, off to replace front air bag sensors
It's a good thing we have so many VWs.....

Haha, I'll bet that without a wife, you'd probably amass a hoarder-worthy collection of VWs.
Hopefully a new evap purge valve does the job. Mine was done at 90k. _________________ Farfignewton! |

I just pulled it off the New Beetle...what a Charlie Foxtrot
Buried under right front fender.
Put it into T4, now I’ll have to put 50 miles or so on it to test _________________ .ssS! |

Well, EVAP monitor went ready in 15 miles, no codes.
Why can't Volvo make an EVAP monitor that goes ready in less than 2000 miles?
Ill will order a new purge valve from FCP _________________ .ssS! |

Faulty N80 Purge valve measured at 24.6 Ohms DC resistance. I have a new one, and will report that value too. It was happily clicking (the T4 ECM drives it at about 8 Hz ) but the error code said something was up. It also holds vacuum when off. _________________ .ssS! |

new purge Valve, Bosch N80, made in PRC, measures 25 Ohms
Conclusion - electrical part of this valve is probably not failure mechanism
Im guessing a sticky flap or valve inside is what goes bad. Ill try some solvent on the old one and see if I can get it to work _________________ .ssS! |

Hello Abscate,
Did cleaning the purge valve fix the problem?
The 2002 Weekender just triggered a P0441 code and is showing trouble starting after filling up the tank (purge valve stuck open?) |

Just purchased a factory new N80 valve part 1C0906517A from the dealer. Cost was reasonable and cheaper than any factory part online (Dorman brand is not factory lol)
Will swap out tonight. |

Cleaning did not , I replaced with new.
Ok, I lied, the Beetle got the new one because I never want to do that job again on that car. The T4 EuroBuss replacement is too simple for Procedure. _________________ .ssS! |

Thanks Abscate,
The N80 Valve was the original part in my weekender and worn out.
Just refuelled the van and no more difficult restart after refilling due to a stuck valve. Check engine light was cleared and stayed off as well
Cheers
