I have a ‘74 Westy with dual Empi HPMX carbs. Are these copies of, for example, Webers or Dellortos or are they a proprietary design? _________________ Tim Osburn

so, to continue to my real questions, this is a dual carb setup. The right carb is all dirty, nasty, the left is clean, pristine. The right carb backfires a lot. What could be happening here? Do I need to readjust completely from scratch? I am somewhat familiar with syncing the carbs and have attempted it before, but I may have screwed things up. _________________ Tim Osburn

OK, they shall be cleansed. However, the thing called the auxiliary venturi, just below the air horn, has caked on grime and crap. It is also loose, as the others are not. How would one half of the carb be affected and not the other half? Sorry for seeming so stupid on these things, but I'm no mechanic. _________________ Tim Osburn
