parts ID help old race parts

greetings, I have acquired some assorted parts recently and seeking input to verify/ID what I have. not fishing just not sure of what I have. What I think I have is a short block from a Formula Super Vee. And a cam cover for the same. The block has the letter H cast into it and the numbers 049-103-021 and 4A83. rods and pistons look like they are race prepped. The cam cover has "Zeitler-Alsup cast into it.

Any info would be appreciated

The number that you have is just a casting #

Clean off the machined flat just under the word "GERMANY" to the far left in this pic & you should be able to find the engine #.

Those pistons definitely kissed the valves.

Kinda cool valve cover, I wonder how the put oil in the engine though.

iirc, it was set up for dry sump. man, what time zone did you find that in? Laughing

they were kind of like the heron dudes competition if my memory serves me. been a looong time since I have seen any of that stuff
