I am using old-school pump and bleed, wife came from a mechanic dad who had her help him bleed brakes since her childhood. LOL.
As I stated early on, prior the change, the brakes were the best attribute on the car. I am leaning towards an earlier post that said I still have air in the new cylinder. Brake travel, shoe adjustment, and pushrod are right on VW specs. |

| Jack up one side of car, block wheels on opp. side, trans, in neutral, parking brake off, and have wife press peddle without pumping, then while holding brake on try to turn front and rear wheel, the one that turns is the circuit with air, trace it looking for leaks, hoses, fittings, and wheel cylinders, if all is well remove MC and bench bleed that circuit. Look at the metal lines at the flair for splitting in that circuit. |

| After a few weeks, over 2 quarts of new fluid wasted, and the VW Shop manual stating the obvious, new FTE was just a bad cylinder. I installed a TRW-Varga on Friday and now my brakes have returned. The bad FTE going back to supplier and lessons learned. German was my first choice, but even they are not free from defects. Thanks everyone for the help. |
