|

Please see the picture below. The mechanism on the right is a working 67 one. The one on the left is a 65 that is missing the piece that hooks on the catch. I want to put the 67 in my 65 door but the opening is too small. Can I just take the plate with a shelf on the top and bottom off the 67 and put the 65 plate in its place so it can fit through the opening? This is what I have been trying to do but I cant figure out how to get this mechanism apart. is it even possible to disassemble it?
Thanks

Just file the door's opening triangle part at the bottom flat across and the '67 latch will fit.

Doesn’t the 67 also have a different striker? _________________ 1965 Velvet Green DC |

Yes the strike is two-screw and the b-pillar stamping and nut-plate accommodate it but the strike pin is the same dimensions and in the same location. |

Thanks Barry. I filed it down. Came out perfect and looks factory. It works with no issues. |

Good. It's safer now as the '67 was improved to anti-burst on impact. |
