So in my bay project we have the 915 and 3.2 flat 6 fitted but trying to figure the best drive shafts to use. Has anyone done this? I guess the options are Bay driveshafts, 911 driveshafts or maybe 944 driveshafts?

I think both the 944-924 and the original 1971 Bus axles are the same maybe a different length. I know the 944-924 use VW Thing 181 CV-Joints (What are they ?) that have more angle of operation 22's or something.

When i installed the 915 and 911 engine into my bay... used bay axles and cv joints. Used adapters to fit bay cv's to the early 915 box's flanges. Found a guy with a lathe who made them. That was back in the 80's.

I used the early 915 which has shorter 4.428 ring and pinion instead of 3.875 to better match ratios using the bay body, as 5th gear is very tall.

Sounds good mate. Did the transmission output shafts change on the 915 boxes at some time?

Just another thought. Could you use the bus drive shafts but put on a 911 CV joint on one end of each to mate up to the 915 flange? saves an adapter
