Hello Everyone,
I have been looking into getting a set of carbs for the 66'
Not sure what the best type of carburetors would be? Would a set of Kadron work? I found this turn-key set at the Kaddie Shack but it looks like they are designed for a 1600 motor.

Any advice is appreciated.
Cheers,
Ryan |

Um is your engine a single or dual port headed engine. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Before you waste time and money with putting dual carburetors on an original 1300 engine you should asses the condition of your engine. Restored 1300 engiens are few and far between these days and a modification like that will shorten the life of an original worn in engine. _________________ Roads Scholar &

^^ Seconded
Although a well worn engine has plenty of reduced compression to run a nice turbo setup.
Pull the motor out and wrap it up in the corner of the garage. The only reason for running a 1300 is to say its original, and in that case, keep it all stock. If you want more horses, get a bigger barn. |

some period correct go fast parts might be nice. a Judson super charger with stock carb is a real performance booster, and will satisfy the vintage crowd.
I think fitting dual carbs will require some search for a manifold to fit the 1300 heads, this is not a common head to add dual carbs to. so a vintage dual carb manifold or replica of one would be required. Some folks use simular carbs to what ran on Porsches of an early era when even the 356 had small motors with VW type heads
here are some vintage dual carb things, Im not saying if these will fit your motor or not, but this is kind of what you need to source in order to mount carbs on your motor.

Pretty sure the 1300 and 1600 heads had similar intake ports and the intakes would be interchangeable. Dual SP manifolds aren’t that hard to find, there are several sets and Empi still makes them. 34ICTs will fit. As mentioned, probably not really worth it from what I’ve read but if it floats your boat. Personally if you just want a little more performance, consider having the 1300 heads milled for 85.5s and put a set of 1600 P&Cs on it along with duals and an exhaust. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

Unless you are doing a header and some work with the heads, such as ratio rockers, porting or a performance cam, the carbs are not going to do a whole lot for you. Just saying.... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
