Converted this back to its factory dual Solex PDSIT 32-34 carburetor setup and correct 205J DVDA distributor, and ditched the baby webers.

Also added some mud flaps!

Living at the beach has taken its toll. Had some nasty surface rust in both quarter vents after just a year. None of this was here a year ago. It's a real tough spot to get to.

Taped it off, used a degreaser and some compressed air. Treated it with three coats of Eastwood rust encapsulator (in gray). Got it into there as best I could without making too much of a mess. Ended up with some drips, but seems like par for the course for how unaccessible these vents are.

Finished it off with two coats of L90D in a rattle can and a clear coat

Have to say it's way better than before. Will see how this holds up.

Too bad about the inaccessibility. Have not quite figured that one out, except for seriously messy grit blasting.

So... you ditched the baby Webers. Is that still your engine from BusLab? Is it a GE engine?

Yeah its a GE 2L built by Tuttles installed by Buslab. Ditched the baby webers -- amazing the difference once you get the dual Solex's dialed in.

What is the cylinder in the air scoop? I know my bus doesn't have that.

It's part of the fuel vapor recovery system, I believe for 72 and later although the 72 has its own peculiararities

It's a sad day, but we've decided to sell our bus. After 7 years as a daily driver, touring the entire California coast, it's time to pass this one on to the next lucky owner.

A shout-out to The Samba community -- It's been a blessing to have so much knowledge and a thriving community. An amazing journey going from a mechanical know-nothing, to a competent owner-mechanic being able to maintain and keep her running like new.

Particular thanks to Robbie, Gary, Colin, and Telford for the education -- sure is cool to know I can completely disassemble and fix the factory fuel delivery on one of these!
