Long range thinking.

I've had Ghias before, while I have two sets of OG seats, neither set is going into my Ghia!

I have this set od seats that we find very comfortable. I'm running them in my Vanagon right now.

I am going to use these seats for the Ghia. The interior will becone this "Camel" ? Color.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So my question is, what exterior colors would "POP" with these seats?
Keep in mind, no white..... no metallics.......

A dark red?

British racing Green?

A dark Blue?

????????

Bonus points....
What color top?

Dave

Arm rests have to go.

Check the height also. they might be too tall and your head hit the roof.

If the seats were to fit (height and width maybe an issue), I like the colour, especially if the seats were to be fitted over carpets the same colour as those they stand (sit?) on now.

Two colour schemes appeal to me for the paint:

Light blue (a VW colour from the 70s) with dark blue on the roof

or

a VW red with a dark wine red (think burgundy) for the roof.

If I were to do my car again - think winning the Lotto - I would do red with red/blue inserts for the seats, sand beige for the carpets, and burgundy red on the roof over the Lotus Beige I have now.

BRG on german cars bugs me. I know it shouldn't but it does.

A very dark blue, especially if not metallic, just doesn't seem "happy" enough for a Ghia.

A dark red with camel interior is always a winner.

Great if you're prepping a nursery for a new arrival, unless you're with your wife or she'll be the sole driver of it, it'll look like you're batting for the other team.

I might have mentioned it before, but a red convertible with a black top just seems natural to me, like Vince Vespe's all original cherry red '65:

Truth be told, Gay or Straight, I keep coming back to this Chrome Blue 69 Convertible with the beige top......
It just makes me smile when I look at it. It is bright and happy.

I can handle being a guy in a blue Ghia, I was a guy in a Miata for years! Laughing
Besides..... it will match my eyes........ 😌

Interesting side note, VW marketed the Ghia towards Women. Look at their ads, mostly female models.

A few views of interiors with painted dash. I know that my 69 has wood grain and is perforated under the wood grain, but I'm thinking it may be well worth the effort to weld them up for paint.

Don't forget to measure how high the seat cushions are off the floor. The previous owner of my '70 convertible replaced the seats, and I have no clue what kind of seats they are, but I'm reasonably sure they sit a couple of inches higher than the originals. It's all I can do to fold myself up enough to get in and out with the top up, and then my hair sticks to the headliner if I'm not wearing a cap. (And I'm only 5'8") My elbow won't reach the arm rest on the door, I have to duck my head to see out the side window, and when I stop for a red light I have to pull the visor down and look over the windshield frame to see when it turns green. Fortunately the seats recline, so I can lean them back a couple of extra notches and slide forward off the front. It doesn't help my back on long drives, but at least I can see.
