When his book first came out, I e-mailed him a question about the $ being a bit high, and he responded with an attack e-mail, called me every name in the book (no shortage of 4 letter words). My youngest daughter had opened and read it before I got to it. Thanks, Bob. He went "From author to asshole" for no reason. I wouldn't give this jerk a dime, much less read anything he wrote, even if you paid me to.

I don't know Dave, maybe he was having a bad day. Like I said, really pleased about my whole transaction, he even emailed me a thank-you after. This was my first experience with him and I couldn't be happier. Sorry yours didn't go as well.

I bought the book and for what I paid I guess it's ok I mean it would have been nice if he would have included a couple of color pictures, but like I said, for the price not bad.

I bought a copy from Bob at the Central Jersey VW society's All Air-cooled Gatehering last Sept. Not only did i not think it was expensive, Bob donated $5 for each copy to the kid we were raising money for. Thanks Bob

Bob Cropsey has been a major player in the east coast VW scene for decades. His take on the history and hobby was unique and enjoyable. I've been collecting VW books for years and I can honestly say that this runs with the best of them. In all my interactions with Bob over the years, he has always been nothing but pleasant and professional. As for pricing, the book is a limited run and has limited distribution. Buying directly from Bob is a bargain specially compared to what used ones are going for on Amazon!

Good luck Bob on the success of your book.

Hello everyone.

First Wow I didn't even know there was a topic of me on the Forum. I actually just found it by accident.

First let me thank everyone for all the great comments posted about me.

I've been in this Vintage VW Hobby for 42 years. I am 60 years old. I've always tried to be fair with my prices of everything I sold.

About my books. I spent years working on them, trying to make books everyone would enjoy. Yes I wish I could have made them with full color pages but the books would have cost me $100. each. I had them printed in the USA and that is the cost. All color books are printed in China by big name publishers that are printing tens of thousands of copies.

I had these printed myself. After spending years working on them, putting out all the money myself. I think $25. not even an hours salary, you did good. Could I hire you to work for me, for years, give you an informative book, and only pay you $25. I did my best.

Again thanks to all, you can't make everybody happy.
