Looks good! Are you painting the entire van? If not, might I suggest that you give it a go yourself? It'd probably turn out at least as good as the rest of the paint, and you don't have any real vertical surfaces to deal with which are the challenge for a newbie. |

I should paint the van, but I'm not ready to drop that kind of coin, given it needs body work also. As far as diy, unfortunately I have no garage, and only a pancake air compressor. I don't think a rattlecan job would turn out well trying to match the metallic paint, and then there's trying to get clearcoat from a can to look nice. I'd rather have it be done nicely, and invest my time in the top/tent reinstall, and later if she remains reliable make her pretty. |

I'd roll on some tremclad in white.. same stuff I'd roll on the fiberglass top..
choose an off white if you don't want it to out shine the rest of the van.
I'd also likely not get around to the rest of the van for many years.
but then I'm not hung up on aesthetics over use/camping/travel. _________________

I'm currently priming the top to roll in white polyurethane (Brightside boat paint, similar to tremclad). I like your thinking on aesthetics and camping, but I'm trying to keep resale value in mind, and my time is shorter than cash right now, much as I'd prefer the opposite.
Maybe I'll have the poptop sprayed with the roof now that I think about it... |
