I spent the last week restoring a pair of jalousie windows and fitted them to the bus. Took them apart and replaced all the seals and gaskets. Sanded all the crud and corrosion off the pieces. Reassembled and added the aluminum strips needed to get them to fit in the Vanagon. I had to reduce the length of the jalousie going in the passenger rear window so it would fit.
24 hours of labor later...
$29,580
$200 jalousie windows and screens
$60 seals and gaskets to rebuild
$50 aluminum strips precut
$90 window gaskets
$29,980
Flow thru ventilation even in the rain.... priceless. _________________ Dave O

I really like doubling up the L channel to make a Z channel for the threshold. That looks good. _________________ '87 Syncro

We are taking it for a weekend camping trip to Point Lookout State Park in MD this weekend with some friends.
I still need to get the bed in (replacing the foam in the seat back and rear cushion), hook up power to the fridge and vent fan, maybe mount the awning.... it is no where near finished but it should be livable for the weekend. _________________ Dave O

that's a long drive down Rt 5! when i was with MD DNR, i helped design and build their WAN network. we ran buried fiber down that road from the park entrance to the nature center. that was a challenge with the causeway.
have a great time and be on the look out for ghosts! _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL Camper

So how does that RJE engine feel in your opinion? BTW, good you got 5 of those South African steel rims as they are NLA. I should have gotten an extra |

I also would like to read your impression on the RJE, including in comparison to your Subawesty. Future planning and all that... _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

I need to go thru the engine management system before I can give a good comparison. The Protraining manual checklist is in my near future.
It runs 'OK' but has a flat spot off idle and a hesitation at 2000-2200rpm or so. None of these are the RJE engine, they are engine management issues. I am happy with the quality of the RJE. _________________ Dave O
