I usually see tuners messing with the IDA's idle mixture screws in a haphazard manner. Revving the engine, then adjusting one of the screws in or out.

The proper way is to adjist them similar to the IDF Best Lean Idle procedure, right? Lower idle speed to tractor-like speed, disconnect linkage, turn-in each mixture screw sloooowly until rpm drops off, turn out 1/2 turn, move to the next barrel. When all four are done, lower idle again, and repeat.

I see guys rev the spit out of it, turn a screw, rev it some more, mess with another. Is this B.S.?

I remember seeing one guy do that with his IDAs back in the day, he said it helped to tune out the 'flat spot'.

I guess the 3rd hole on most IDAs these days lets you tune like IDFs.
