Kdf sold in Germany 2017

Hi all,

this is a strange conversation. The red car under discussion is a real KdF beetle from 1943, actually it is a type 92.

The VIN is on the chassis and reads 5-017791. I enclose a picture of the plate.

It has also the original KdF doors, at least one of them and the special structure in the firewall which is a sign that the body is also KdF.

There were many modifications made on this car. Very usual in eastern Germany after WW2. The wall came up in 1961 and no real spare part supply was happening. A few workshops specialist on the left over beetles in these days and people "upgraded" their old beetles with larger windows, newer tanks and blinkers etc.

This particular car was sold to a guy well known in the scene outside Germany as far as I know. It will show up restored at some time.

In relation to the question, why "all Kdfs from the east are painted red" I post here a picture of my recently acquired KdF type 92 from 1943, which I found in Kazan, Russia.

The car is light beige and inside even original color sand beige.
