Thanks for the comment
Got the seats at Pick&Pull wreckers. There out of a Pontiac Grand Am nicest style and narrowest I could find. My friend reupholstered them to match.
Seats were $20.00 each at the same time grabbed the Hyundai steering column for $7.00 and came with a key in it.
I blended the hood and fenders together and cut down and lowered back seat/speaker area. Made the winsheild frame, roll bar, front bumper, dash etc. |

looks like the body was designed for a type 3 pancake motor instead of an upright. too bad, it would have been cool with a flat truck bed in the back _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

Thanks
I collected parts for a year then a year to get it together.
It's just a 1600 with Kadrons and w-100 equivalent type cam. Did the full flow with a big pump. I took three pounds off a stock flywheel but didn't like it, I think it was a bad engine combination with the 295-50-15 rear tires so I put a stock flywheel on.
I modified a Dodge 2.6 litre dist and seemed to work good. Got my full advance at about 2600-2700rpm with only 1 Chevy propane spring. Tapped in and got the proper ported vacuum port on the left hand Kadron.
I've got a couple little turbo's but I'm not sure if it's worth the time and effort for a few months of driving a year. It's no rocket ship but that's good cause it's got 4-wheel drum brakes :-0 |

Hey drip dont forget me I'd like to know about your exhaust pipes and some pics of it . From what I see I may have to get some like yours . Is it very loud ? or run on the quite side ? Im looking for maybe finding some that is alittle on the quite side so you can hold a coversation while riding and hear the music better. Thanks Vince |

Hi vponder
There were the cheapo two into one straight through glass packs. They were way to loud..like I was in the demo derby. I cut off the glass packs and welded a chambered muffler on. The o/d dimensions were the same. I cut some 45* angles on a couple 2" o/d stainless pipe. Then cut the points off the 45* angles and tacked them on. Much quieter now.
I can take a better pic of it. |

The dist is not a Dodge 2.6. It's from a Mittabishi 2.6 from a Dodge mini van.
The housing is the correct size to fit the vdub block. Just had to cut it a bit shorter and drill for the vdub drive pin. A nice dist with the mechanical advance on top just under the rotor. They were on sale at the wreckers so I bought four. Tried one of them with no vacuum advance but had the off idle bog so kept the advance. There a nice ball bearing unit with pickup and module all within. I carry a spare module and Philips screwdriver in the glove box but have yet to use it. I bought a performance coil to go with it and 8mm wires. Inexpensive upgrade but made big difference. |

Like your idea what brand chambered mufflers did you use ? I would like to do the same but toying with the idea of making the tips turn straight up and putting those tractor flaps on. I have a good friend that welds and another that runs an auto shop that does muffler work. |

They were just a generic type round muffler. I will measure them |

Any body notice my headlites are illegal? In BC and probubaly all Canada if a car has only a single round headlite it must be 7" with high/low beam.
If 5" are used there must be two per side one for low and one for high beam. Mine are single 5" motor cycle high/low beam headlites.
Bet you not one RCMP knows that. |
