Gary - is there a fund to send money for flowers to the funeral from the Bay community?

It’s very nice of you to ask Steve. I haven’t been told of any plans for that. My guess is that Tom probably wouldn’t want a conventional western style funeral. If I had to guess I’d bet on a Buddhist ceremony.

Me too! It was oddly... I don't know... calming? Often brought me a little smile inside.

Thanks for sharing and "sticky-ing". Nice group hug going on!

Same here, I'm going to miss that. Tom will definitely be well missed here.

Gary, keep us in the loop if anything is needed.

Holy cow. I just saw this post and immediately said "oh shit". My condolences to Tom's family and friends. I'll miss his posts and wit. As so many have mentioned, he was always kind, friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed listening to him post about his aviation history. He flew some neat piston engine planes back in the day. So sad we are losing that generation so rapidly.

Godspeed Tom..

Aloha Samba Ohana (family in Hawaiian),

Thank you Gary (Aeromech) for starting this post. Thank you to all the friends who have posted here. It means so much to myself and our family that my father was loved and respected on the Samba. I know he's got a huge grin on his face right now and flashing the shaka sign while saying, "Alright!". Our entire family was aware of how much the forums meant to him. For learning and sharing with everyone.

We celebrated my father's colorful, adventurous, independent life with family and friends at his house this past Saturday. He was a retired pilot from the Air Force and Aloha Airlines. He grew up surfing in California and moved to Hawaii to continue to surf and go to college. He met my mother, then I came along with my brother soon to follow. The rest of his biography is an intricately woven web of stories, jokes, misfit and breathtaking adventures and thought provoking conversations. He is greatly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that he lived his life the way he wanted to and enjoyed it fully!

My father was a Jr., being given his father's name. I am his first born, but he got a daughter first so I have the same initials as him. He was TSP and I was tsp. So one last time for my dad from both of us....

Aloha

Thanks for sharing that photo , tsp.

Can I link to his memorial if that’s ok here?

He was very smart, too, I’ve read.

Very Happy
