What would cause my propane heater blower to turn on when the van is parked and the thermostat is turned off? I believe it is the cause for my battery running down...

Don't know- just got my Eurovan full camper, and MY heater fan won't come on, cso I can't get it heating. Just spent 3 nights from Colorado to DC w/o heat.
To you older-timers familiar with such problems. The aux battery seems alive, but the switch doesn't bring the fan to life. If it's a fuse, where is that fuse? Can I put a jumper to the wire actually running to the fan so I know the fan motor still works-- where would I try to tie in to it? Thanks. -Chris (old Vanagon guy moving an era closer to get some new creature comfort.)

So does that blower run off the auxiliary battery?? I don’t have a manual so I’d appreciate any pointers out there!

The furnace shouldn't run unless your thermostat on the wall is telling it to. The more likely cultprit is the propane alarm running down your battery over time...

how old is the battery?

But hey, you may need to replace that thermostat too... here's a walkthrough:

As for the furnace fan not working at all? it could be that you need a new thermostat as well... or your fan is siezed. here's a walkthroughon replacing that:

The fan blower for the furnace runs off your aux battery (it would kill the car otherwise). Youv'e got about 7-8 hours of furnace time on a full charge with a 29dc deep cycle battery and you'll eat through about a half gallon of gas if you're running it that long.
