I’ve heard a rumor they are not making them.

Correct... get one before old inventory is gone.

Call some of these places. I posted this for a guy in The Pacific Northwest. I’m sure they will stick one in the mail if they have.

Bow Wow’s in Lynwood, WA used to have a good stash of new and used parts. They still might.

http://autoviceservice.com/

Ken at The Busco. In Kent,WA Used parts/body parts.

http://www.thebusco.com/

Averys Aircooled in Kelso, WA Used parts/body parts/ after market parts.

https://www.averysaircooled.com/

Auto Sport Imports. SeaTac, WA.

https://yelp.to/gUm2cAjMDK

Halsey Imports Parts. Portland,OR New parts/After market parts.
Good prices and customer service. They usually stock the best new or after market parts you can get new.

http://www.halseyparts.com/

Always-V-Dubs Portland, Oregon Hard to find parts. New after market and repop parts. Owner comes off gruff on the phone but he’s a good guy. Pricing is all over the board. But he’s got some good stuff

http://always-v-dub.com/

Discount Imports Milwaukie, Oregon

https://www.google.com/search?q=discount+imports+m...ent=safari

That should get you started in The Pacific Northwest. As mentioned, build rapport with local merchants. And for the love of Dubs pay extra for a local storefront specializing in parts for vintage VWs. It pays off in the long run. Don’t forget to hit the shows and swap meets.

I found a guy on Craigslist in Mulkiteo that had 1. He gave me a great price but I'm unsure if he has any left.

The gauges and wiring looms are readily available on Ebay. Remember you need the loom and thermocouple which is held in place by a spark plug. The thermocouple are available in 12 or 14mm spark plug sizes.

Yep that’s an option. And good on you Glenn for finding one for the OP. I’m guilty for pimping businesses catering to ACVW. Very Happy I like walking into a place and grabbing parts off the shelf. Not many good parts houses left. But yes, sometimes I seek out the inter webs for stuff Shocked I’ll probably have Cardone rebuild my distributor in the future Laughing just messing with you Glenn Very Happy
