I tried them. In my case they slowed down the carb heating by a number of minutes, but they still reached gas boiling temperature. You can get them thicker, like 1/2 inch thick, but I don't know if it would help or not. My linkage won't allow for it.
Edit: the ones I tried weren't those specifically, but similar. |

Thicker helps.
One could also add a radiant heat shield under the carb and/or over the intake manifold. Similar setups were used on mid '70s vehicles. |

I read something about heat shields a while back on a different forum regarding trouble on ac cobras, I'd forgotten about it. I just bought a new metal shear, I might try that. |
