Just sent the email to ROTR for my discounted tickets.
As far a The Off Road event goes. I say we wait a couple of weeks and see what the weather does. Maybe it’ll rain, maybe it won’t. If it rains, we're on and we camp with each other 2 weekends in a row. If no rain we should change the date, I’m down with the September dates. If no rain at least we’ll have ROTR to campout together in July. |
I think waiting another week or two to see how the weather shapes up is a good plan. I'd really prefer this July weekend if it works out, but am fine with Plan B in September if it doesn't.
Come on monsoons!

Fire just broke out near my town and property. Insanely dry with hot wind. Not sure about going anywhere at this point. Really worried as Florence has no fire fighting plan..just straight evacuation which has already been ordered for the surrounding area. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Thanks, the fire fighters are hard at it, but it has doubled in 2 days and the humidity is 9%, 95 degrees, windy. Zero chance of rain for the next 10 days. Worst drought since 2002 which was supposedly a 100 year event. I can't hardly go into the forest anymore a look at dead/dying trees everywhere. Deer in the middle of town in broad daylight eating trees. Is it any better elsewhere??? _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

We only got .06" here, but I'll take every little bit we can get. And the forecast sure looks like a monsoon pattern to me... Most promising its looked in a while |

Looks like the monsoons have started!!!! We’ve had a lot af rain so far and the forecast is showing rain for the next 9 days here in Durango. South Fork and Creede are showing similar forecasts. If this forecast is true and it does rain, I think we’d be ok for the trip. What do you guys think?

The San Juan NF just lifted all fire restrictions I'm sure the Rio Grande NF will do the same soon. Game on!!
There have been a couple of small fire starts in the route area, so I'm going to head over there this weekend to check it all out and make sure I don't need to make any changes. I'm guessing it will all be OK. |

It’s been raining so hard here we’ve had flash flooding and land slides. HWY 145 (the hwy portion we did on last year’s trip) and HWY 550 have both been closed for slides in the past week. _________________ __________
