Bought this from Wolfsburgwest along with my new WW stroker crank for my Okrasa project an this happened luckily while just doing the end play. Stripped out just using a breaker bar! Anyone else here of this? I ordered another one from AA, hope Wolfsburgwest is selling their gland nut. What a piece of garbage.

Had the same thing happen on a buddies car. We forgot the washer and it bottomed out and stripped.

Nope. Oddly after putting the washer back on and torquing it it tightened back up.

36 HP is shorter and the shoulder is different. I'll look later and see if I can take a pic of the differences.
Did you look and see if it was the same as an old one?
Here's a crappy pic from an old ad

WOlfsburgwest advertises it as a German gland nut explicitly for 36hp. I think I still have it I will compare it to others I have.
I bought one from AA which is advertised as for any VW engine and it worked fine.

Yeeesh...just bought a WW gland nut for a customer's vehicle...think I will use the old one w/ a new bearing.

Been having a bit of difficulty w/ WW parts as of late, dumb things like not fitting. Hmmm.
