Thank you for reading and thank you for your feed back!
I live in Vancouver BC and the streets can be pretty hilly. I've been starting off in 2nd than shifting up around 30 rpms, feels pretty good, still not sure exactly where I should be shifting though. Haven't done any really big climbs yet.

Thanks again everybody![/img]

'93s had that weird button on the dash (don't push that while cruising down the highway!) that would hold the transmission in third (maybe even second) to keep it from shifting up & down during hill climbs.

@BC VAN MAN

In general, D for Drive is fine for all normal forward-moving use. The two exceptions to that for me are: 1) when the van is shifting back-and-forth frequently while climbing a hill, I drop the selector down a notch to keep it in the lower of the two gears it's switching between, and 2) when I'm having to ride the brakes to slow it down while coming down a hill, I move the selector down a notch to let the engine help some with the braking and not overheat the brakes.

If memory serves, I think the manual touches on this some as well.

If you're on reasonably flat terrain, D is all you'll likely need.

Hello,

I have a 1993 Eurovan Weekender MV. It's automatic, I'm not really sure when I should be shifting gears, if I should always start in 1st or 2nd or just leave it in drive? I've been going by feel so far but not I'm not sure how high the rpms should be when I shift? especially on the hills.
Any help would greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!!!
