Don’t laugh ~ 120 volt a/c in a Westy

I have often wondered why a hybrid A/C system has not yet been designed.

Use a 110v home styled 9000 btu Mini Split and combine it with an engine driven compressor and condenser as well.
With inline flow control valves you can select shore power or engine power.

To me, it seems like all off the shelf stuff. Plus when on shore power you also have the heat function of the heat pump.

For decades I thought they should make a double ended utility knife...... they do now.
For decades I thought they should make a level with a built in vial light.... they do now.

Probably easier to use a clutch and drive the auto ac compressor with either engine power or an ac electric motor.

The problem will be getting the auto ACsystem to work efficiently at low output of 5000 btu/ hr at rest. 1-2 HP motor needed , clutch needed.
