Ah, shit. That sucks. Sorry.
The hell of it is... I doubt the perp even threw the rock. If they did, you should have found it IN the bus, yes? They probably used it like a hammer.
I'm just shaking my head looking at this. I don't know what I'd be more outraged over in your shoes... the feeling of being violated or the senseless stupidity of it.
I mean, if you're going to be a thief, at least make it profitable and take some fucking pride in your work.
As to the 9mm slug to the temple- why not use it someplace where it would do actual harm in this case.... _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

At the moment, it's the senseless stupidity!! The fool who did it should have to help us with the repair!! We got the replacement glass but the job hasn't been easy and now we're rained out.
To start with, the door cards are crap. We knew that months ago when we had to Gorilla Tape the vinyl to the backing b/c of the crap glue they used in manufacturing but they keep being crap. Most of the clips just stayed in the door as they tore away the door card. Never had this issue in multiple door card removals on Types 1 and 3. Definitely going to go with ABS b/c this one is unusable now.
Then, the extra bit of felt channel that runs down into the door from the vent window is distorted so we can't get the glass to ride in the channel. We tried to clip the extra felt bit off and that fucked it up more. We decided to remove the vent window to try to repair the felt channel. Scratched the paint pretty good in a few places. It also turns out that the lower two rivets that hold the vent window frame halves together have rusted away so the window frame flops around on the bottom. It's okay once in place though. But how fun when the rubber ends of the scraper get pinched down into the door when you try to get the vent window back in place.
We need to get a new felt channel but it's all that weird fuzzy aftermarket stuff like this:
http://www.busdepot.com/311837433a
Anyone know if it's any good?
Looks like we'll be enjoying our plastic window for a few more days. _________________ '69 Fuel Injected Squareback. "B" D-jet. 1600 with balanced rotating assembly and lightened flywheel. Full flow and external filter.

That aftermarket window run channel shit is what caused the window glass to pull out of the holder in the first place on that side. The edge of the glass grabs the rubber channel and cocks the glass. Besides, it is just a red hair too wide for the channel. There was a normal one on the left, and this bullshit Porsche 911 style on the right. I corrected it and the window stayed fixed. I can get more of the right stuff coming from Zack and ship it over if you want.
From what I observed the real problem with the door panels is more the replacement clips than the door panel. They're like a bee's stinger- they go in OK but once in they spread out in the door, then break apart/ rat fuck the panel coming back out. Just more modern aftermarket goodness, I'm afraid.
I think you can repair your panels like this just fine unless you're just lusting after ABS:
Get some super glue gel and put it between the torn sections on the back of the panel. Take a strip of construction paper a bit bigger than the repair area, lay it over the repair, and roll it flat on with a little wallpaper roller.
Soak the strip of construction paper with regular liquid super glue and let it set up/ dry.
I think that'll make the ripped up clip holes good as new. Take care not to inadvertently glue the outer vinyl to the backing board around the hole.
BUT- before you reinstall it, do yourself a favor and reinstall it with real door clips:
https://www.bugcity.com/shop/shop.lasso?pquery=door+panel+clip
First item in Row 2. I think if you look closely at this clip and compare it to the aftermarket ones you have you'll see why these work more than once and the others don't. The key is where the collapsible fingers reach all the way to the back of the flat U clip on these where on the aftermarket ones there's a gap. The gap allows the fingers to spread behind the hole in the door, at which point good luck getting it back out without a clusterboink of damage.

Lust and ABS? Must be a new fetish. One we don't have.
In our parts stash we found a few lengths of felt channel. One is the kind without the metal backing. It came out of an Audi, VW, etc. bag and looks like the Busdepot stuff. The other stuff has the metal backing and looks OEM but probably isn't. Either way, since we have enough materials on hand, we might get the new window in tomorrow if the rain holds off. _________________ '69 Fuel Injected Squareback. Well, our metal-backed stuff turned out to be a bust. It's way too wide to fit in the channel without mangling it. We cut a length off a spare bit of the extra long piece that goes along the top and side of the door frame. I guess that felt stuff is wider than the bit that goes down the vent window channel? Can anyone verify that?
The fuzzy VW of Mexico stuff we had on hand fit perfectly so that's installed.
Here's what's holding us up now:
--Rain for the next few hours.
--The screw that holds the top of the vent window frame to the door will only go in if we hold our noses just right. Otherwise, it goes in sideways. This screw installation should be simple as hell yet isn't. The screw isn't stripped. Any tips here?
--The glass doesn't seem to want to go in at all no matter what. Reading around it seems like dropping the glass in from above is the way to go. Of course this involves removing all the felt channels and the scrapers. Is it just never gonna work if we try to get the glass in from the bottom?
Seriously, dealing with windows on a Bug and a Squareback was never this difficult. I don't get it........ _________________ '69 Fuel Injected Squareback. "B" D-jet. 1600 with balanced rotating assembly and lightened flywheel. Full flow and external filter.

window regulator is the first part in the door followed by:
roll up window glass
outside scraper
vent window
large felt channel
inside scraper.
I save the inside scraper for last. then, bolt the glass to the regulator and adjust. also, the felt channel is on the vent window before I install that.
in a perfect world, it would take 10 minutes. in the aftermarket world we live in, it's more like an hour _________________

Thanks for all of the suggestions and links. We're going to order a new metal-backed felt channel for the vent window and two new scrapers since the break-in and us trying to get the vent window back in place once the rain started pouring down on us left them somewhat mangled.
One more question.......should we re-rivet the bottom of the window frame to the post? It's hard to explain which of ours have rusted out but here's an example from a Type 1 frame we have laying around. It's only one rivet as opposed to two and it comes in from the opposite side from a Type 2 but it's the same idea. Can we rely on the force of everything being installed to keep the frame together? Again, our bus frame has two rivets and they've both rusted away....Once I rest the window on the rivet stubs and put everything in place, it seems to hold, but I do wish for a more permanent solution. I also considered coating both rivet spots with JB Weld...

A stainless steel pop rivet will fix that, make sure it's a short one, you may even have to hammer the upset end flatter for clearance. JB weld won't work there.
Another option is a copper rivet from a leather or horse tack store, easy to hammer in with basic tools. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The felt channel you need for the vent window side is a 311837433A- it's a narrower piece than the rest.
The IMC number is 93254065565 if that works better.
Sorry, but I had forgotten that. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Cleaning the bottom of the door and the weep hole will stop water from collecting in the bottom of the door.
Good luck
