Hello, I am looking to pick up new or used left and right Front backing plates for my '66. It has a king pin front end. I am just a little confused as to what backing plate I should be getting. Some places say '65 to 74 are the same while other say '66 and '67. Any ideas what I should be looking for? or anything I should be letting people know what I have, king pin or ball joint?? new to this problem. thanks |

Hmmmm.. 1966 Beetles would have Ball Joint front beams...
Might want to clarify and confirm that..
Is this for your KIT CAR???
If it's truly a King/Link Pin Beam.. you'd need the corresponding King/Link Pin backing plates..
Ball joint and King/Link Pin backing plates are not interchangeable.
FYI... Ball Joint and King/Link beams are not interchangeable either..
The Chassis frame heads are different.. and the beam separations are different.
Know and research what you have.. before you buy anything..

Yes this is for a Bugatti kit car. I have good front backing plates on them now but the backing plates have fender brackets welded to the backing plates. I may run an open wheel and would like to replace the backing plates than cut the welded brackets off. I may decide to have fenders in the future and than can put the original backing plates back on. |

You really didn't really clarify.. why you think it's a 66 ??
It's a Kit Car... do what ya have to do..
99% of them are a hodgepodge of VW parts... not that there's anything wrong with that.... _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}
