I saw this ad in the classifieds and wondered,
Why would anyone put this on? I'm not the most knowledgeable,
but wouldn't that make the engine run hotter?
Or is this for when the car is parked to keep rain/snow out?

I could see someone forgetting it was on there and overheats
their engine. Embarassed

I can tell you from personal experience that in places where it gets very cold a VW engine has a hard time warming up with the fresh air vents on the decklid open, even with a working thermostat installed. Covering the vents helps quite a bit in this regard, with the added bonus that it helps keep a lot of the snow out of the engine bay.

I'd have to agree with mukluk. Probably for very cold climates. Kinda like the radiator covers the big rigs use when driving way up north.

Edit:

The instructions say.it all. It's for cold weather use.

ok now I understand. So it's something to be used in the
colder climates then, not all the time.

I might have help if I read the whole ad then, Embarassed

Guess it's true, I learn something new about these cars everyday.
