Hi all,

I have a badly split later 67 drivers seat base (ie. access to rear seat is via the lever near the top of the backrest) and would like to swap it out for one in better condition.

The seats appear to be original as the pattern of the material used on the back rest of the front seats go over the top of the seat part of the way down the back.

Are other later year seat bases compatible as the earlier 67s would have had the back seat access on the side of the base?

Thanks all.

I believe '68 also works... but '67 late model seats are 1/2 year only bases I'm pretty sure. I think they are different than the early ones.

Be careful! You may be stuck with late 67 only bases.

Late 67 bases have the upper side releases, like the later bases (68 onward), BUT the pivot point of the backrest changed for 68 AFAIK**. It moved from the lower tube to a higher point on a welded in brace.

In other words, your late 67 backrests will not fit on a later base. They will fit on an earlier base, but the release will not function properly.

**I may be wrong about the year of the change, it may be 1969, so 68 bases may work as 67ctbug stated, I just want you to be mindful of the difference and be sure to check before buying since it seats are often advertised as simply 68+

Yeah I'm not sure, I have one highback seat that has the pivot point lower, so I think it's a '68 thing. So probably late '67 to '68 would work.
