It's off right now so I can replace the AC compressor and other routine maintanence Other than protecting the underside of the engine from road debris, is there any reason not to leave it off? Not planning on any off roading in the forseeable future.

If your van is raised up higher than stock, then I suppose the pan isn't required, but for off roading, I would think it to be crucial. I took mine off years ago, but then again I never off road.

On is good, off not good. Anti-seize for the install.

my '93 didn't have one when i bought it. i'm not planning on any off roading so i'd prefer the plastic replacement version– no rust, better sound deadening.

there is one listed on ebay shipping from latvia:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Bay-Silencing-Mate....l4275.c10

does it just attach with standard bolts? 10mm?

I kept mine on my 2003, its lowered as well. I would keep it on regardless, its a good strong piece to help protect. I know they suck to take off for maint, but it can save some money from damage
