Because it's a California model, so juxtaposing it with landmarks of the namesake state makes sense. _________________ Casey--

I can see that but the thesis was that "every manufacturer takes marketing pix in cali."... |

It's also a very photogenic state with a lot of inherent market share. _________________ Casey--

Don't doubt that. So is Spain or Italy. With better architecture obviously. Again, what struck me was the statement that "every manufacturer takes marketing pix in cali." which I highly doubt. But I guess that's enough of that. . |

i wrote "seems that every..." not just "every."
given the distance it is remarkably frequent around the globe.

I saw this morning on the Instagram via the "Eurovan" hashtag, that someone posted a handful more pictures of multiple other T6 campers in California for a photo-shoot. Red, gold, red/white. _________________ 1993 Weekender - Hula

It's a poptop too. Would love to see the interior. |
Is Westfalia the maker of the top conversion? It looks very thin (not tall); has caused any of the kind of problems that the T4 Winnie had- cracks, etc? Or does the German attention to manufacturing detail mean that hasn't cropped up?
If anyone has a link to a site w/ good interior pics, or better yet, a video "tour" of a T6 camper, please post! |

Westfalia is now owned by Mercedes, so I believe VAG is doing their camper conversions in-house these days. Their interiors are brilliant. _________________ Casey--

coincidence yesterday I saw this film on the website of a Belgian auto magazine Autowereld (translated to AuroWorld)
They did a test with 3 T6 California models in... California, where else!
So this was a marketing campaign for VW Europe. The German licence plate is indeed from Hannover.

I believe for the T6 launch, they had brought some in to do photo shoots with -- playing off the western US reputation for beach and wide open cruising on route 66.
That's marketing for you them! |

Chris (from VW) brought this by at Syncrofest, he's on a press tour with about a dozen other T6's in socal. Clifford the T4 got his pic taken with his new (25 yr) younger T6 brother.
This one (with the bells and whistles) goes for about $110k

If you CA slackers would get back to work we could have nice things like T6s.
There are at least 5 countries with bigger GDPs than you.
Get to it. _________________ .ssS! |

Any idea if this one was at Syncrofest? Nice T6 California Coast, spotted this morning at the, uh, California coast, Fort Baker, Sausalito, CA. French plates.

It isn't a VW but it looks like it may be based off the same platform as the t6 but the engine might be different. All the interior stuff seems similar if not exactly the same. Looks like it might come standard with awd and air suspension.
Use google and translate the page.

It's definitely inspired by the modern Transporter platform, but it's a wholly separate platform of its own. _________________ Casey--
