Quick question: I picked up a "remanufactured" Bosch 6V generator online.
It had been sitting on a shelf for more than 10 years.
On inspection, the shaft moves about 1/2 inch front and rear...seems tight other wise.
Is this normal? Proper end play to be dialed in once it all assembled with the fan, washers, nuts, etc?
I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer.
Thanks in advance. |

That much axial play is ridiculous. The generator is likely completely missing a set of bearings, or some
similar gross misassembly problem. Axial play should be a few thousandths of an inch, and there is
nothing in the install process that can "adjust" it. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities

Thanks! That's what I thought...on closer inspection, it looks like they just swapped out the newer case with a older unit. I'll move on. |
