New to these cars. I wanted to know if an earlier decklid would fit my C. I understand that the louvers are different but wondered about actual shape. _________________ 71 Type 1302 Custom

coupe yes, cab no. The cab lid grew in size with the introduction of the 2 grills. the coupe stayed the same.
early lids have different mounting points for the hinges. |

Great. Thanks for the info. I have a nice original 64C and recently picked up a really rough one that needs everything. I found a louvered A coupe decklid that I thought would look good on the rust bucket but wasn't sure that it would fit my C. _________________ 71 Type 1302 Custom

Hopefully 356prea was confused by the wording of the question— but a decklid off of an A will definitely not fit on a C. Wrong size and wrong shape. |

my bad.
cab lids are all the same size. they will fit the hole. How to mount it is a different question. Coupe lids are not interchangeable. |

cabs, speedsters, roadsters, convertible D and karmann notchback lids are freely interchangeable for model year 1953 to 1965. Coupe lids changed a LOT
I just measured a 57 cab, a 59D a Roadster and a 65cab . on every single one the hinges are spaced 16" apart and the lid is 34.5" wide with the same curvature.
You can also read Dr Johnsons restoration guide page 42.
Coupe lids do not interchange. Hinge points changed, size changed etc. |
