So tomorrow it's finally time for a little dyno time. Any estimates on whp and torque?

150hp 140ftlbs, probly gain 10hp or so with 48ida carbs. We are talking engine dyno not chassis dyno correct? Let me know how close this is, so far it's been pretty damn close.

That dyno simulator is pretty good. Just did an engine very similar but with bigger heads and it made 175 fwhp with 45mm throttle bodies but it lost 10-12hp on the top end with 36mm throttles. The 44IDF's will restrict the top end and if peak power occurs high the belt losses will be substantial |

Check my post history just ran on a mustang dyno and ended up 150/150 at the wheels 2276cc 9.5:1 c45 cam 1.25 rockers all balanced and same carbs.
I am guessing you will be right around there or 10 hp less from the small displacement.
I was going to go FI and fuel injection over winter but that didn't happen, so considered 48's which would definitely help instead I am holding off and will go the Fuel Injection and turbo down the road. |

Whp, impossible to say as it can be all over the place.
Built well I´d say about 157 - 160 hp and 210 Nm using SAE corrections (77 deg. F. 29,6") and at sea level, which is about 143 hp at 1700 feet. |

It is very fun to drive, very smooth, not pesky or temperamental _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

As they say......a dyno makes a liar out of you......
It also makes a grown man cry.......
I was 25 crank hp short of my hopes........
I'll guess 142 whp and 155 torque.......but what do I know.
It is just a guess which will depend on how far in rpm his cam will make power. _________________

Sorry just got home for a minute, had to check on my bus at a multi day car show as soon as I got done at the dyno. So we had time to do 5 pulls today, AF looked good at full throttle so we left jetting alone for now (might get a few more horse if we lean it out a little), but we played with the timing a little. Best pull was 148hp and 149ft tq, (left the readout in my bus), don't remember exact rpm for each. So that dyno app was pretty close! I thought the hp and tq would be a further apart, my bus is 10-15 apart? Torque curve is nice and flat from about 2800-6600, with a quick climb above 1500 rpm. There is a dip in the 1800-2500 zone and goes rich (not sure which is causing which). Very happy with results! VW transaxles 10 or 15% hp loss? _________________ Pres. I'm happy so the only change I will consider at the moment will be fine tuning the jetting. But if I were to want more power out of my combo what would be next step? Bigger carbs or exhaust? 1.5 rockers? (have 1.4 installed) or even more compression (now 9.7 to 1, no ping on 92 E-10 pump) _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

EFI Turbo........more power than you can ever hope for.
Come to Springmeet in Bellevue the 28th of April. If the weather is dry I'll take my buggy and I'll give you a ride with almost 200 whp now that I'm back to 22.0 lbs boost.
You will have to look me up though. PM for a phone # or find Mario if he has a booth.....I'll probably be hanging with him. _________________

That's good ! Even the shape of the graph and the peak is very close.
Can you drop some 40 dells with 30mm venturis in there see what it says ? |
