Standard Zwitter Heater Knob. Very rare and very pricey.

Any ideas what year this knob is for? Has a 141711623 part #. The one on the left seems like the common 60's style i'm used to seeing.

As stated above that is an early Ghia knob used roughly from 58-63ish. The later style is the same shape with a red dot in the middle (also used on the type III Ghia?) They are very hard to find in this condition and valuable. The only reproduction version available is a hand made version in aluminum. I think Brezel Works made a short run of these too, though not anymore (I believe his were cast and had the part number on the back side). |

Hey Thanks for the info. I guess my 60 ghia has the wrong heat knob on it then. I'll install this one on there when i get new heater cables for it.

The heater knob with the H pattern was also used in early Ovals 1953.
My Oval October '53 has one.

The first "1" means it is a type 1 part. Though some type 1 parts were used on other models like the bus/type2/
"41" is the Ghia coupe model number.
"7" is the chapter/section of the parts manual where it is to be found in "frame/hand-foot levers".
"11623" is the actual part number of the part. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

One small difference between the originals and the reproductions: on the originals the arrows and letters are engraved into the plastic, then painted black. The reproductions I've seen have the markings printed on the surface.
Not a huge deal but a detail that may matter to some people.
Originals turn up here. I got a mint one last year from a Samba seller. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |
