If I want to test a wiper motor which terminals do i appy a positive and negative to? This is my slightly toast motor

spray that area with some carb or brake cleaner, ands hit it with a tooth brush while you do so you can see the wire colors.

I am thinking the "toasted" aspect to that photograph means that a deeper disassembly is required. Any inadvertent power to both low and high speed is going to annoy the armature in a hurry, not to mention a short to ground if polarity is screwed up. I am curious as to why the toasted appearance of the wiring? Has that been resolved?
