My 68 Bug Does not have a Fuel Vapor Canister or Evaporation Chamber. I think I broke the damn internet looking for one...
Can anyone please point me in a good direction.. At this point I will take whatever solutions I can get.

This sounds kind of lame coming from a ex VW line and unit mechanic of the early 70's who should know, but did 1968 beetles in the U.S. come with a fuel vapor canister?? The reason I say this is because U.S. cars including California didn't have them until the 1970 model year. |

Even if you had those two canisters, the system probably wouldn't work. The metal lines leading to the back of the car are probably rusted shut, and won't flow any fumes. You may as well use the older system of an overflow hose leading through an arc to the ground. |

Late 1970 was the first time the canister evap system started to show up, before that it just vented through the cap or near the filler to the atmosphere. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Yeah, That's what I thought. Heck I had my smog license back then. I was sure a manufacturer wouldn't do anything about emissions unless they had to! |

You mean you have one tube to the fuel pump and one vent tube. That would be two tubes.
BTW, even back to at least 1963 on GM cars with A/C there are three tubes. One is the vent, one is the fuel supply to the fuel pump, and the third is the fuel filter return line which is between the fuel pump and the carburetor. How that works is when the float in the carburetor shuts off fuel when it's full, the pump keeps pumping to the filter and the filter has a return line to the tank so the fuel is continuously recirculated to the tank keeping the lines and pump with constant supply of cool fuel from the tank preventing vapor lock in the lines. |

Evaporative Emission Control was first required in US 1971 model year, so a 68 should not have any such equipment.
There is a chance your gas tank has been replaced though, possibly with a universal replacement version. Where are these two tubes located?
For definitive answers to your quandary I'd suggest posting pictures of tubes in question. _________________ -Bruce
