So I started building a sandrail buggy. 2.3l turbo svo motor and a mandeola 2d transmission. Originally it was going to be smaller arms but i finally just purchased a tatum 5x5 setup and mounted to car. Originally motor was going to by an aircooled vw. Front end is an a-arm setup that used a bay window bus spindles
Now nothing is lining up and I have to do some modifications when I can start seeing the tunnel at the end.
This is where I am right now
ordered the wheel adapter so i will have a rolling chassis within the week.
Notice how once I attach adapter plate and motor it will stick out way further then my start of the engine mount.
Choice 1
Cut the trailing arms bar and move it forward like 16 inches.
The nosecone from transmission will be close the the front seats.
Make a super short buggy.
start running short on storage space.
Choice 2
leave everything where it is and just change the whole back cage.
Dont make fun of my mach up it is first draft lol
Would leave me alot of room behind my seats and the trailing arms bar.
Roughly 13 inches. Not to mention room I could put on the front sides of the transmission.
2 bucket seats? 1 on each side of nose cone.
4 seater?
This would not be the chair as it has a big foot print but put to just look
was thinking of just some small light ones
What is everyones thought?
2 seats or 4 seats?
Do people with 2 seats wish they had 4?
2 seats short buggy
2 seats longer with storage and easy placements for fuel cells and radiator.
So I am married with a 19 month kid and my wife is 15 weeks pregnat.
Thats why I am trying to build this thing before second baby comes as I might not have alot of time. |

It depends on what are you going to be using your sandrail for, how big is your family? or your group of friends, for me I'd do a 2 seaters with space for stuff...
nice looking rail BTW _________________ 86 Mexican baja bug

Sounds like you need a 4 seater. Sometimes you do what you have to.

Personally I would not use poly seats, for me they were not comfortable, but others like them...My preference is full suspension seats...

Well if the wife and kids are going to join you in your off road adventures you will be wishing you had 4 seats.
But I like the idea of extra room behind the seats as a 2 seater. |

Found a set of rzr seats that fit back there.
Fit good. Only concern is when car is fully compressed it might bottom out on bottom of seats.
