Speedometer working - Odometer Not

I just took my bus out of storage for the winter and discovered that while the speedometer is working, the odometer is not. They were both working when I put it away last fall. How do I troubleshoot this? Has anyone else seen this happen?

The odometer is driven by a plastic gear, since cold weather makes plastic brittle it seems probable that the winter weather caused this gear to crack and fail. You'll just have to pull your instrument cluster out and take a look.

Someone on theSamba is selling replacement gears (ask Aeromech for details). They just hand-press onto the odometer shaft. Easy fix.

Doug sent me two gears for $10 shipped. I tried to talk him down but he was firm on the price🤗

Get the gear in hand and then pull the speedo. That way you can still drive your bus while waiting for these very expensive parts to arrive.
